The
Virginia
Beach Central Academy Library Media Center is open from
7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and staffed by Library Media
Specialist Mrs. Steckroth and Library Media Assistant Mrs. Brinster.
Patrons are encouraged to use the library for research, pleasure reading
and browsing, or as a quiet place to study. Two daily newspapers, thirty
magazines, and over 5,000 books are available to everyone. The library
computers are for research only. Students are required to present
their agendas signed by a staff member when they enter the library
during school hours, except during lunch.
Library policies are clearly posted where students can see them as
they enter the library. Students are expected to adhere to VBCA uniform
guidelines, to keep voices low and conversations to a minimum, and
to display no food or drink of any kind, opened or unopened. Students
unable to follow the guidelines will be escorted back to class.
Students may check out up to two books at a time, excluding reference
books, for a period of two weeks. Students are held responsible for
returning materials in the condition in which they were given. Damaged
books will result in an assessment.
Computers are available for student use but, in accordance with school
board policy, for academic purposes only. Playing games of any kind
is prohibited as is surfing, downloading for personal reasons, emailing,
and listening to music. Students who do not abide by the policies will
lose library computer privileges.
A coin-operated copy machine is located in the library; the charge
is ten cents a copy.
