Fashion Designer

Marketing and Fashion Marketing are two elective courses focusing on the essential elements of marketing. Students will learn about selling goods and services, promoting goods and services, appropriate workplace behavior, employability skills, teamwork, technology skills, and vocabulary utilized in the field of marketing and fashion marketing.

Students in Marketing courses are eligible to earn a second credit if they have a job. Students must work 400 hours during the school year, complete the necessary paperwork each month, and maintain a passing grade in their marketing class.

DECA, Distributive Education Clubs of America, is the co-curricular club for marketing courses. Students must pay dues to belong to the club and receive several benefits as members. Members can participate in DECA competitions, community service activities, leadership training, and social events.

Our DECA club has worked with the Respite Day Care for the past 6 years. Our students visit the day care and spend one-on-one time with the children. It has been a very positive experience for all involved. We visit four times a year, and at Christmas time we deliver gifts donated by the students and staff at Central Academy.

VBCA had three students compete in the DECA District Leadership contests this year at Landstown High School in January. One student placed third in the written portion of the competition held at Landstown High School earlier in the school year. It was a great experience for them all.
